ABOUT US

Hello, my name is Niko and I am the Founder of Picme! I always had trouble connecting to people via traditional dating sites and wanted to make dating more interesting. I thought the dating apps out there were fun while swiping, but boring and non-interactive afterwards. In the spring of 2017, I began my journey into the world of interactive dating by forming Spark Dating a live video dating app. People found the concept interesting, but difficult to match with users in the same location and time. I still believe interactive dating is the future so I changed my original video dating concept into Picme, the dating app where you swipe then picture message, in an attempt to get people to interact more after matching.

According to a poll on the app Whisper, “66 percent of people have matched with someone on a dating app and then never messaged them.” This number is staggering. Most people enjoy swiping, but can’t be bothered messaging their matches. I believe this is because of the boring nature of text messaging and then waiting hours for a response. I developed Picme to make it easy to share what you’re up to, or a funny meme to break the ice, and hopefully build meaningful connections. Receiving a picture message is so much more interesting than a text message, so why wouldn’t that apply to dating?

A lot of hard hours were spent planning, developing, and improving this app, so hopefully you enjoy it as much as I do!

Sincerly,

Niko

(P.S. There are a lot of people that helped me through this journey and it hasn’t been easy, but they believed in me even when it was hard, so I just want to thank them all from the bottom of my heart! – Mom, Dad, Kosta, Mike, Eva, Christina, Giannis, Elliot, Gisele, etc.)
